Robert Coombs is the Director of Public Affairs and registered lobbyist for the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA). He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied Organizational Communication & Social Justice. Before coming to CALCASA, Robert held positions in student housing and judicial affairs as well as serving the Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer (MLS) team for 6 years ending in 2004 when he left his position as Press Box Director. From late 2004 to 2006 he served as a communication consultant to the Center for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation (CCRR) in the Middle East while representing the International Association of Educators for World Peace as a National Chancellor. In addition to his role at CALCASA, he has also served as the Chair to the Think Tank on Victims of Abuse With Disabilities.

It is important to remove barriers to sexual violence prevention, such as the lies and hysteria promoted by politicians and the media to create the failed sex offender registry, and other innefective retributive justice laws against former offenders. WIth out reform of these laws, resources will continue to be divereted, and effective prevention measures will hardly be given a chance. This is the GREATEST challenge for sexual violence prevention today!

i am trying to find handouts to give to our patients for the national sexual violence awareness month this april. if anyone can either point me in the right direction or offer help i would greatly appreciate it. i am a community health rep and my job is to educate the community and promote awareness. native american women are sexually assaulted twice as much as any other race, as i live on a reservation, april is an extremely important awareness month that i would like to promote to my community. thank you for your help.
