As the newly signed Health Care Reform begins to settle into people’s minds, many are asking, “How will this affect me?” For many survivors of sexual assault, many women have experienced barriers to accessing health care because, for many health care agencies, suffering from PTSD after an assault has been considered a “pre-existing condition” (see post entitled “Rape: A Pre-Existing Condition“).
To help understand how the Health Care Reform will impact women, the National Women’s Law Center will be hosting a webinar on April 8, 2010 entitled, “How Women Will Benefit from Health Care Reform.” For more information about this webinar and to register, you can visit their website here.
The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Heath will also be hosting a “virtual cafecito” (a discussion over coffee) for both bilingual and monolingual, Spanish speaking Latinas on April 7, 2010. There will be a call in English from 12:00pm to 1:00pm (EST) and another in Spanish from 1:00pm to 2:00pm (EST).
