from the Family Violence Prevention Fund
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and across the country, advocates are joining health care providers, business leaders, policy makers, faith-based groups, college students and others at events and activities designed to educate the public about domestic and sexual violence.
Activities include national campaigns, events like the Family Violence Prevention Fund’s National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence on October 8 to 10 in New Orleans, and state and local activities of all kinds.
Across the nation, experts and those who work with victims of domestic, dating and sexual violence are planning Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) events that educate the public, inspire action, and tell victims about the help and services that are available. While the activities come in all shapes and sizes, the goals are often the same: to raise awareness about the prevalence and cost of domestic and sexual violence, the need for prevention, and the services that are available to victims and their families.

Hi Michael – The best agency to contact is WEAVE. Also, check out the Sac State Women’s Center. I’m sure they will be hosting a few events on campus. If you have anymore questions, let me know.
Gift From Within is hosting an interactive art exhibit called A Woman’s Journey from Domestic Violence Victim to Survivor: The DOOR. It was created by Stacie Dubay, LMSW, a Counseling Supervisor at End Violent Encounters (EVE), Inc. in Lansing, Michigan.

My daughter Davida and I would like to rush you a free copy of our new documentary, Breaking the Silence. It’s already being used by therapists, shown in schools, etc. and we’d love to get a copy to you right away.
Perhaps it can also still be used in any events you may have relating to Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Please feel free to contact us with your preferred mailing address.
Sincerely,
Michael Horn & Davida Horn
