<p align="center"><strong>EDUCATION MANAGER</strong></p>
<p><strong>PURPOSE OF POSITION</strong></p>
<p>Under the general direction of the Associate Director, the Education Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, development, coordination and implementation of CALCASA’s Education Department, which provides statewide training and technical assistance services for CALCASA member programs that include California’s rape crisis centers and prevention programs.  The Education Manager must be experienced in the theory and provision of sexual assault victim services and have a commitment to program innovation, particularly in the area of sexual assault victim services, multi-disciplinary collaborative approaches, training programs, culturally competent or diverse programs and non-profit business functions.</p>
<p>The Education Manager is responsible for designing and implementing CALCASA’s training programs and directly supervising the Advocacy Services Coordinator and Organizational Services Coordinator along with assigned project teams. This position requires statewide and national travel and the ability to stay abreast of multi-disciplinary issues and trends emerging in the sexual assault field.  Full-time, exempt position, based in Sacramento, California.<span id="more-5818"></span></p>
<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Project Management</span>:  Responsible for the development and implementation of the training, technical assistance and information services in the areas of sexual assault advocacy, intervention/treatment and non-profit/organizational management services for rape crisis centers and affiliated professionals.  This includes the creation and implementation of trainings (online and in-person programs) and staying abreast of conferences and trainings offered by multi-disciplinary partners, the creation of information packets/publications for rape crisis centers, mentoring relationships with the rape crisis centers and coordination of education and technical assistance using various methods including on-site meetings, telecommunications, consultants, and mentoring connections between rape crisis center personnel.</p>
<p>Project management and design must be consistent with rape crisis movement philosophy and trends including cultural and geographic needs within the state of California.  Customer service and high quality services are paramount including the design of an expert database to ensure accessibility to information and experts in the field.  Maintains professional and coordinated working relationships with other CALCASA staff and programs to coordinate research, training, and conference planning functions.  Provides service and team support to other CALCASA departments and programs, (e.g., Prevention, Campus, Public Affairs, etc.).</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Supervision</span>:  Supervises the Advocacy Services Coordinator and Organizational Services Coordinator.  Additionally, supervises cross-departmental project teams as required or assigned.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Assessment and Evaluation</span>: Identifies emerging violence against women intervention and treatment trends and rape crisis center management needs by reviewing the literature, staying abreast of developments in the field and working closely with CALCASA’s Associate Director.  Reviews and prioritizes requests for education and training, technical assistance and information. Directs and supervises staff to respond to these needs in a timely and accurate way.  Responsible for the development and management of an annual marketing and work plan for education and training services to rape crisis centers and/or sexual assault prevention programs. Acts as staff advisor to rape crisis centers and related clientele on issues of rape crisis/rape advocacy services and operations.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Written products</span>: Responsible for the Education Department’s development and updating of information packets, blogs for CALCASA’s websites,  training  and registration materials, and other written materials.  Manages and coordinates the compilation, editing and distribution of publications and written materials.  Guides the design, content, tone, cultural &amp; language appropriateness, and professional standards of these written publications.  Works with department staff and project teams to identify new publication needs and manage consultants/contract staff related to development of these publications.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">CALCASA Membership Support:</span> Responsible for coordinating CALCASA staff to provide support membership meetings, including CALCASA regions, caucuses, and other committee meetings to forward the work of the coalition.  Assist in promoting and maintaining communication among CALCASA’s membership.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Grant Compliance:</span> Responsible for managing the Education department’s grants and funding.  Duties include grant reporting, compliance, and grant writing.    Responsible for planning and development of potential funding opportunities for the department and agency.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Additional Duties</span>:  Performs other duties, such as speaking/training at professional conferences about CALCASA — especially the education and training services.  Designs presentations related to these services for delivery at conferences.  Contributes to the professional tone and approach of CALCASA.  Other duties as assigned.</p>
<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>B.A. in related field.  Extensive experience,  demonstrated skills and aptitude will be considered in lieu of education.</li>
<li>Experience, minimum of three to five years, in a management position at a community-based rape crisis center or victim services agency that delivers quality sexual assault prevention, intervention and treatment services.  Experience in project design, implementation and evaluation, personnel management, strategic planning, non-profit/organizational management is vital to be successful in this position.  Knowledgeable of CalEMA mandated rape crisis center services standards, funding requirements as well as rape crisis center operations including 24-hour intervention services, sexual assault response team response, prevention and community education programming, volunteer recruitment and management, counseling approaches and more.</li>
<li>Experienced supervisor knowledgeable of employee recruitment, supervision and retention, and the ability to coordinate a staff to respond to service requests and meet program and agency’s objectives.  Ability to maintain a professional work environment and relationship with employees, co-workers, management staff and CALCASA’s constituents and partners.  Experience in negotiating and managing contracts and projects successfully.</li>
<li>Ability to be pro-active and visionary in identifying emerging trends in violence against women   intervention services and to translate trends into training and educational programs for service providers.  Strong assessment skills to determine technical assistance and information needs and the capability to design services to respond to those needs.  Willingness to promote victim service providers to engage in innovation and best practices to respond to community and victim/survivor needs.</li>
<li>Experienced in conducting research and providing technical assistance utilizing a wide range of sources including printed materials, the Internet, databases, consultants and “experts.”  Must have excellent research skills and the willingness to “go the extra mile” to shape solutions and identify resources for the rape crisis centers.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are essential.  Experience in designing workshops and presentations to diverse professionals and audiences.  Ability to communicate with diverse groups.  Experience in effective project management and group facilitation. Technical writing capabilities including grammar, spelling, and document design. Proven experience in developing material appropriate in content and style to audience and type of publication.</li>
<li>Experienced in training and curriculum development utilizing adult learning theory, training methodology and educational design.</li>
<li>Technological proficiency a must including utilization of social media, online resources, new media etc. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate understanding of the various technologies deployed at CALCASA for public education, organizational and administrative tasks.</li>
<li>Must be organized, flexible, multi-task oriented, and detail oriented.  Able to identify and respond to shifting priorities.  A self-starter that can work within a team environment and handle a variety of tasks/projects with urgent deadlines.  Able to manage time effectively and make independent decisions.  Able to manage staff and project teams effectively.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain positive, cooperative and professional demeanor with rape crisis center staff and volunteers, CALCASA staff/board, vendors, consultants, allied professionals, and members of the public.  Skill and enjoyment in interacting with people and creating an accessible work environment.</li>
<li>Ability to travel in California and some national travel including overnights and some weekends.  Must have own vehicle including a valid California driver’s license and insurance in order to attend meetings, implement trainings, and provide on-site assistance to rape crisis centers and other clientele.</li>
<li>Willingness to abide by the mission and philosophy of CALCASA.</li>
<li>Must complete a CalEMA certified sexual assault victim counselor training, if not already completed in the last three years.</li>
<li>Ability to lift 40 lbs. in order to move equipment, boxes of paper, supplies, etc.  Physical demands are typical for an office environment including sitting, stooping/kneeling, reaching, handling, speaking, hearing, and seeing.  The noise level in the working environment is usually quiet to moderate.</li>
